I want to start off by saying I have a very particular color of nude lip that I have been on the hunt for for…well forever haha. To this day I still haven’t found the perfect nude lip for my skin tone without mixing two together, but throughout the search my collection became a little out of control and I promised Jon I would go through and pair down, so here we are!
Honestly, when I was swatching the lipsticks, liquid lipsticks and lip creams, I was kind of shocked at how so many of them looked IDENTICAL to each other. On one hand I was like “Oh perfect! This will be easy to pair down if I have so many dupes!” but on the other I was like “wow blake, look at how much money you’ve spent when you already had the exact shade.” But hey- we live and learn, right? Also please note that I am not going to edit the coloring of any of the photos so you can get a sense of the real shades of nude!
Let’s start off with the lipstick category!
I linked all of the lipsticks to the retailer that had the cheapest price so it would be easier for y’all! The gold bullet looking lipstick is an old Gerard Cosmetics collab with Jaclyn Hill called “Buttercup” so it is no longer available, sorry!!
Next up- lip creams. Im my opinion, these are my favorite type of formula because they stay longer than a traditional lipstick but don’t dry out your lips super bad like a liquid lip does. As you will probably be able to tell, I realllyyyyy love the NYX matte lip creams, especially London and Stockholm.
I use the 4th and 5th shade (going down from my wrist) as a brighteners. So, if I have a color that looks really brown, i’ll use the more pale shade (Cario) to brighten it up, and if I have a shade pulling more grey, I will use the salmon colored shade (Buenos Aires) to bring it more towards a nude shade.
Next up- Liquid Lipstick. I have a love hate relationship with liquid lipsticks. I love the staying power they have on the lips, it’s truly incredible, but if I wear one for an entire day, the next day my lips are like the Sahara Desert. Now, to be fair I have very dry lips to begin with, but if you don’t, liquid lips could be you’re bff. The one that I took the pictures with on is actually my favorite formula of liquid lip because it is a lighter, BREATHABLE formula. It’s the brand/line I reach for most often!
Last up- Gloss! I probably wear gloss the least out of all four formulas because hair always gets stuck in it hahaha. It doesn’t really matter if its sticky gloss or not (I don’t do stick either way), my hair will always get caught in it, so I only have a few picks for this category! The one I mostly always year is Fenty Gloss Bomb in Universal, but of course when I was taking the photos for this blog post, it was in my bag that I was using that day and I totally forgot to swatch it, sorry! But I did take pics of it on my lips!
